I have in the past...and I might again sometime in the future....I've added an embroidery page to my site, because...well...it's complex design and construction work which I did a while ago which really is part of my artistic journey
More progress using the materials from my DisCo bundle
furniture, 2011, mixed media including fabric, weathered paper, cardboard, acrylic paint and varnish 80 x 84 cm
This is a large work on recycled fabric and cardboard. This image is a small area of the work, photographed and photoshopped to enhance the white background and black linework.
4 small details are available as cards and prints
Tonight I finished the first of what will hopefully be a series of mixed media pieces utilising the elements of my weathered bundle (see previous blog posts).
I'm very happy with this piece which is quite a fresh and new approach for me. Please contact to express interest in the original.
A strange little character in a state of balance...
So I pulled the bundle apart and found spiders and mould but some very interesting paper...
Then I created some photo collages.... next will be some actual collages, just bought more background paint and varnish today! : D
Sooo...apart from internet house keeping I always have several projects on the go...in various states of creation... on benches, in cupboards, hanging half finished on walls...Not to mention the ones just hanging around in my head!
Yes, well hanging half finished on the wall - I can see one when I look out the window of my office/studio.
9 months ago I made up that bundle with an old fish keeping book, pieces of fabric, staples etc, tied it up with string and attached it to the garden wall as part of the DisCo project. It's been rained on, baked in the sun and probably has spiders and snails living in it by now.
After a few months I brought the bundle in and sat in on the scanner for as few passes. Even I was surprised by the results of this exercise - from the scans and some hand written text I created three digital collages with a modern mysterious quality.
It might now be time to bring in the bundle and pull it apart and see what I can make with the pieces, see what the weather has done to the pages and staples and other bits and elements.
I'm not looking forward to the spiders....
I am looking forward to the new creations and the process of creating!
Progress, that's what it is.

And it's clean and white and gallery like and gradually I'll work out the form I want it to take. come inside, have a look around, let me know what you think!
