I continue to make boxes, on and off, as they come to me and demand to be made. They are taking on different characters now, some have images inside and I'm using a few new materials.
As a quick update, here are a couple of recent pictures. I'm still working towards a grand box exhibition...some time yet to be announced!
The first of what will surely be many...a tiny handmade book, empty pages for the writing of special things...
Made from recycled materials (paper, cardboard, fabric).
50 x 60 x 10mm, hard cover covered in printed linen, 12 pages.
The cover image is a transfer from an original photo manipulation and features two very cutesy cats. These were a pair of china salt and peppers which ended up going to a fund raising market stall last year. I gave them the honour of a photo shoot before they went...and I'm glad I did! the resulting images are gorgeous!
If you are wondering about other pictures of these cats ...you can see them below. Also available as cards, prints and on shirts and baby wear ...Interested? send me a message!
I bought a huge pile of 78s the other day...I'm experimenting with them, trying to formulate a 3 dimensional piece for a sculpture competition.
The 78s have a beautiful solid feel about them, they make vinyl LPs seem flimsy. They are very brittle though...I tested this by hurling one at a tiled floor....it shattered very impressively!
These old records also have some very beautiful typography and graphics on their aged and stained looking jackets. Old print material - perfect for yet another round of my hand made boxes...record boxes this time!
Here are some photographs of my latest constructions. Charming little illustrations making exquisite little box lids and, of course sheet music for the lower part. I hope you like them. Real vintage material this!
